Build a Kiwi Nesting Box
Calling all home handymen!
If you're good with tools, our kiwi need your help to build cosy artificial burrows/nesting boxes.
To keep our kiwi healthy, we need to replace each nesting box after two or three years, because the wood can harbor harmful Aspergillus spores as it begins to rot. This means we need a large number of kiwi nesting boxes each year. We also need volunteers who are prepared to construct these nesting boxes for our kiwi and/or sponsorship to pay for the materials used to make these boxes.
Download the designs and specifications for these simple, easy-to-assemble kiwi nest boxes and set to work in your garage or back yard.
If you can help, please contact us by email, phone 07 873 7391 or pop in and have a chat.
But wait, there’s more…..
If you have spare time and are keen to help us, we always have projects around the Otorohanga Kiwi House. There’s gardening, painting, visitor guiding…. you name it, we can use your help.
Because we’re community-based and ‘not-for-profit,’ your support really helps us in our conservation work.
